
Juan Villegas, son of Mexican immigrants, is the first Latino Law Enforcement Officer to write an educational parenting book for the Latino Community in the United States. He has been in law Enforcement for over 22 years in Southern California and an instructor for the Orange County Bar Foundation ShortStop juvenile crime diversion program. He has been an instructor for over 11 years.
In December 2009, he published La Vida Tiene Valores (Life has Values.) It addresses the three main areas where Juvenile Delinquency originates from – Lack of parent leadership, Violence in the home, and Sexual abuse of children. Juan has been in an excellent position to learn about many of the problems facing today’s youth, as well as some of the solutions to those problems.
Juan currently hosts a weekly Talk Radio show called “Prevenir es mejor que lamenter” (Better safe than sorry) regarding delinquency prevention. This program airs on International Catholic Radio (ESNE) 1670 AM KHPY and sister stations across California and Baja California in Spanish.
In December of 2011, Juan was selected by the Orange County Board of Education to serve as the Co-Chairman for the Parent Outreach Committee on Gang Prevention for the County of Orange.
